Makes for a very grumpy ME!
Four months ago I started a new full time job after working casual jobs for the past few years.
Sheesh, what a shock to the system.
I come home, do what I have to do and then once I sit to have dinner with the Family, that's the end of me. Too tired and unmotivated to do anything. The tiredness is improving, finally, after four months, and I am starting to push myself to do things for myself rather than sitting in front of the television and not even aware of what I am watching.
I have recently finished a Doodle of sorts, as a commission and I would have to say I am quite happy with the way it has turned out. I apologize for the quality of photo but my camera is on the way out and it is the best photo out of a bad bunch.
I LOVE to doodle and this particular piece was in my favourite colour as well which made it all the more enjoyable to do. I find this form of 'art' so relaxing and I am able to switch off and just enjoy the process.
I have a couple of other pieces on the go at the moment and I will share once they have been completed.
Till next time, keep creating!

Well I'm beginning to feel a bit more comfortable in my new job but am still totally exhausted every day! Mentally exhausted from trying to remember everything. Because of this I tend to come home from work, cook the tea and then sit in the lounge chair in a vegetative state looking at all the colours on the television. I have no energy to do anything let alone be creative at the moment.
Having said that, I was so excited about having a scrapping day with my Mum over the four day Easter break.
We had a lovely day of chatting, laughing and scrapping and I actually got a few layouts completed, a couple of pages in my Art Journal, as well as some cards that I will give to a good cause when I get a few more completed.
It's been raining here on and off all day and I was planning to sew, but instead I have been curled up on the couch, catching up with a friend, enjoying a good old laugh and chat.
So...............tomorrow, I will be sewing! I am hoping to have a quilt finished for my youngest son who will be turning 13 in July. I have chosen the fabrics and started doing all the cutting so, tomorrow, I am hoping to start sewing it together. Fingers crossed that all goes to plan.
Well I'm going to call it a day and head to bed but before I do, I wanted to share some of the layouts I did over the Easter break.
On this page I have used some paper doilies as masks, sprayed the whole page with Glimmer Mist.
Then, using an eye dropper, I randomly dropped several different colours of 'mists' from the top of the page. I tried to replicate the graffiti wall that Katey and I were standing in front of. This page is very different to what I would normally do but I am extremely happy with the outcome just the same.
This page I have used Glimmer Mist again by lightly misting the entire base page and then dripping some 'splotches' onto the page. I wasn't overly happy with the way that looked as I thought they looked too much like paint 'splotches' so while the mist was still wet, I poked holes through them from the back of the page to make them look a little bit more like water drops. Then I layered another colour of blue cardstock to the back to make it look like the colour of the water in the spa.
This is one of the Art Journal pages that I completed. I started it in March and have only just got back to it to finish it. It was inspired by the amazing Donna Downey. If you haven't already done so, please go and check out her blog. She is one amazingly talented lady. I love this page and I LOOOOOOVE washi tape! I have been buying my washi tape from Sawyers Place.
Just for a few laughs, I bought mum and I some bunny ears (it was Easter after all and we had to get in to the spirit of things). We wore them all day!!
Hahahahahaha!

I've been quiet once again.
I started a new job 3 weeks ago. A full time job! And let me tell you..................the good old grey matter has been getting a work out!
Unfortunately, because I had to take this full time job (due to both my husband and I both having casual jobs, we never knew what we had coming in the door from week to week and it was doing my head in), I had to give up my job at The Quilters Angel .
I absolutely loved my job there and I loved working for Marion and Steph. If I think about it too much I still get a bit teary. I was one of the lucky people who could always say that they genuinely loved their job. I didn't leave because I wanted to, unfortunately it had to be done out of necessity.
I am enjoying my new job, albeit challenging. It's something new, with many new challenges ahead of me.
Three weeks training has just been completed and I have spent the last two days 'live' on the phones. Now for four days off to refresh the grey matter and then on Tuesday, I'm flying solo!!!! Talk about stressful.
What else has been happening? Nothing exciting really but I have cleaned out my scrapping/sewing area today, all ready for a day of messing it up again tomorrow. This will be the first creative thing I have done for quite a few weeks so I am quite looking forward to it.
Hopefully I will have some photos to share soon.
Oh well, I am off to cut out and start making some flanellette PJ's for my gorgeous nephew.
Till next time,
SUE
Last post I was talking about our trip to Brisbane over the weekend. Claire and Greg have two sons aged 17 and 15. The same ages as my two eldest kids.
Josh, who is 17, is going through those 'vampire years'. You know the ones? Up all night, sleep all day (when he can get away with it, that is).
Unfortunately, Josh still hasn't caught on that when you stay at Claire and Gregs place, there is no opportunity to be a 'vampire'. Well, not the sleeping in till all hours of the day part anyway.
Claire loves to sing to him if he won't get up and this past weekend was no exception. I must say, her boys, hardly ever sleep in!!! You would understand if you could hear her sing. This weekend even Molly the dog joined in. Josh still didn't get up straight away ( I might also add here that it was 2pm) and was then consequently covered in water from Jordon.
NOTE: There are no photos of the water incident happening or afterwards as we all bolted!!!!!!!!!! He did actually get up at that stage though. Hehehehe..
Wonder when he will catch on??
Cheers,
SUE
I have just had THE best weekend away in Brisbane. Stayed with one of my besties at her place. We were celebrating her husbands 50th Birthday on Saturday night and it was just so relaxing, being at their place and catching up. They have this amazing back yard that they have just finished, complete with pool/spa. Beautiful!!!! ..........and no, I didn't don a swimsuit. I wouldn't subject anyone to that! Matt, my youngest, spent quite some time in there though and enjoyed every minute of it.
It's upsetting sometimes how time can get away from us, and so quickly. Claire and I worked out that the last time we saw each other was in August 2010. Unbelievable! It definately won't be that long next time.
I love though, how we can just pick up as though we saw each other yesterday. Yes, we do talk on the phone but it's just not the same as being able to catch up in person.
We went down to the Wynnum area Sunday morning and went for a short walk. It was such a stunning day. I don't think we drew breath, we were talking so much.
We also went to the Wynnum markets while we were there and I managed to find some beautiful laces and doilies for some new creations that I have in my head, just waiting to come to fruition!
I even picked up 3 metres of some gorgeous white Guipure lace for $3. I have seen a similar lace in retail stores for $12 per metre. Woo hoo! What a find.
Well I'm off to play with my beautiful lacey finds and see what creations I can come up with.
Till next time, keep creating.

A cyber friend of mine has an amazing mum who volunteers for The Compassionate Friends and one of her jobs is to send anniversary cards out to bereaved parents and families.
If any of my arty/crafty friends out there like to make cards, and you are able to help this wonderful cause, I know it would be appreciated.
The address for the drop in centre is on their website, and if you send them c/o Lyn Macklin they would definitely be put to good use.
When the people who have lost a child receive a card to let them know that they are in the thoughts and prayers of someone on the anniversary of their child's death they are oh so appreciative.
I have made up some cards to send to Lyn as when I read Petrina's Blog http://scrap-petrina-just-scrap.blogspot.com/ it really touched me. I can't even imagine having to go through losing a child, so for these families that have been through this, to receive an anniversary card and know that that child and all of them and theirs are in someone elses thoughts and prayers, must be a comforting feeling for them.
I hope you can help out this wonderful cause.
Till next time,
